Candle

If a hole were drilled straight down it would be a start
And if removed the brain remained the heart
And if alone for once the heart could speak it's mind
This incidental death I wouldn't mind
Cause I'd be justified

If the hole continued going through the ground
And if removed the sight remained the sound
And if alone the sound could finally be heard
It wouldn't matter if it had a word
Cause I'd be justified

I light a candle and I wait
And hesitate to watch you hesitate
It irritates and thrills me all at once
I don't know how you always do this
Light the flame that burns right through this
Jagged shadow giving proof this wasn't all in fun

And if the hole continued swallowing everything
And if removed the cold remained the sting
The sting of daggers formed of frozen sharpened breath
A cold that's too intense to catch your death
I'd be justified
